Simon Danczuk is running this month's London Marathon to raise money for local charity Rochdale Connections Trust.
The London Marathon, which hits the road on 23 April, sees MPs representing constituencies from across the country run for charities of their choosing.
Simon, who last year ran the marathon for local homesless charity Petrus Community, will this year be raising money for Rochdale Connections Trust.
Rochdale Connections Trust is a dedicated local charity that does exemplary work empowering young people ad adults experiencing difficulty across the town. The charity works with people often without family support facing a wide range of barriers such as anger issues or grief.
Simon said: "Encouraging vulnerable people to deveop their skills is vital to getting their lives back on track, but it also enables them to proactively contribute to Rochdale's ecoomy. That is why I will, quite literally, go the extra mile for Rochdale Connections Trust by taking part in the London Marathon on 23 April.
"With your help, we can contribute to this charity's excellent work, and in the process give a helping hand to those in need."
Simon added: "Last year I managed to finish in four hours and forty-nine minutes. Whether I manage that this year I'm not sure, but as long as I beat Jonathan Ashworth I'll be happy!"
Speaking to Simon, Rochdale Connections Trust said: "We are delighted to hear that Simon is raising money for us, and we really do wish him the best of luck in the race."
