Simon Danczuk celebrates 50 years of the Samaritans

22 March 2017

Simon Danczuk, Rochdale's MP, has visited the Samaritans Rochdale, Oldham and District branch to celebrate 50 years of helping people in crisis.

Simon was pictured alongside Councillor Richard Farnell, leader of Rochdale Council, and Samaritans branch Director Janet Murphy at the branch as part of a series of events to mark their 50th anniversary.

Simon said: "I think the Samaritans do a wonderful job as a listening ear for our town by providing round the clock emotional support to those struggling to cope.

"Rochdale, Oldham and District branch took their first call on 1 March 1967 and their work throughout the years deserves to be celebrated.

"I look forward to supporting their vital work in the future".

Samaritans Rochdale, Oldham and District branch are continuing to celebrate their anniversary throughout the year, and their next event will be a quiz night on 8 April at the Albion, Whitworth Road. They will also hold a 50th anniversary ladies fashion night on Friday 21 April at Rochdale Sports Club.
