Dr Martin Rodgers: Milnrow and Newhey’s Labour candidate for 2011 local elections

Dr Martin Rodgers has been selected as the Labour Party’s local election candidate for Milnrow and Newhey for May’s local elections. A former GP, Dr Rodgers retired in 2008 but decided not to rest on his laurels. Ever since, Dr Rodgers has increased his own involvement with the local community. Martin is a member of Milnrow Cricket Club, Milnrow Literary and Scientific Society and the British Medical Association.Martin Rodgers

 

Dr Rodgers has lived in the ward for the past eight years and is keen to ensure that Milnrow and Newhey keeps its traditional local character and charm and to assist in the regeneration of Rochdale town centre. Dr Rodgers is supportive of local shops and businesses and believes that the council should offer as much support as possible to help keep us out of recession.

 

Martin said: “I would like to help to minimise the effects of the Government cuts to essential services, the disadvantaged and local people in general.”
