Danczuk backs Palestine recognition vote

Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk says he supports historic vote for the UK to recognize Palestine as an independent state on Monday 13th October.

Rochdale MP Simon Danczuk has welcomed the chance to vote in favour of recognizing Palestine as an independent state.

On Monday 13th October MPs will vote on a motion that would see the UK take the historic step of officially recognizing Palestinian statehood.

Simon Danczuk MP is the former chair of Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East and has a long record of campaigning on behalf of the people of Palestine. He has visited the West Bank and frequently raises the issue in Parliament.

Speaking ahead of the vote, Simon Danczuk said that supporters of Palestine could be assured of his vote:

"I know this is an issue which matters deeply to many people in Rochdale. I have been contacted by hundreds of my constituents and understand the importance of this vote. As someone who has been campaigning on this issue for many years I welcome the chance to vote for the UK to recognize Palestinian statehood and I hope my fellow MPs will join me in supporting the motion".
