Danczuk welcomes new Bengali newspaper for North West

Simon Danczuk was delighted to speak at the launch of Jonosheba Fortnightly, the first Bengali newspaper in the North West. Simon with Cllr Farooq Ahmed

Simon said to the audience: “I believe this newspaper will be the voice of the people, it will help hold politicians to account and it will help promote the Bengali community. I wish the newspaper every success.”

The launch took place at Oldham Muslim Centre, Compass House in Chadderton on Saturday 26th July 2008. There were people from across the North West Bengali community including councillors, business people, community activists and journalists.

Simon said afterwards: “This publication really is good news for everyone; it’ll help community cohesion by broadening peoples’ understanding of what is happening across the North West. It’s great for helping sustain diversity and it will help promote the Bengali community.”
