Kurdish Community Dinner a Success

Simon Danczuk was the guest of honour at a dinner on Saturday 17th November held for members of Rochdale’s Kurdish community.

The dinner supported by Councillor Imtiaz Ahmed brought everyone together at Pakistan House on Lower Tweedale Street. There was music, socialising and a Kurdish feast.

Simon Danczuk said: “The Kurdish community make upKurdish Community Dinner around 300 residents in Rochdale and it was great to meet so many of them and listen to their experiences. I learnt a lot about Kurdistan and the problems in Northern Iraq and Southern Turkey.”

Simon continued: “We all had a great time and the Kurdish food was excellent! I think Councillor Imtiaz Ahmed and Ghulam Shahzad did an excellent job in bringing everyone together, it’s a real credit to them both that they are involving people from all different communities.”

Ghulam Shahzad said: “It was nice to meet so many members of the Kurdish community and everyone had a good time. I don’t think they get many chances to socialise and this was a good way of bringing everyone together and learning more about each others cultures.”
